HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police launched an investigation after the discovery of a corpse in a river in Sapporo City on Wednesday, reports HTB News (April 26).
At just before 9:00 a.m., a woman commuting work in the Kita area of Higashi Ward alerted police about “a clothed body floating” face-down in the Sosei River.
Due to the body having been heavily decomposed, the gender and approximate age are not known.
However, since the body was clothed in a woman’s black jacket, black sweatpants and black boots, investigators believe the body is female.
Police are treating the case as the result of foul play or an accident. In addition to confirming the identity of the body, police are seeking the cause of death.
