HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police have arrested a male British national who is alleged to have intruded into a residence in Sapporo City over the weekend.
Perhaps not surprisingly, the suspect was drunk at the time, reports Sapporo Television (April 22).
At just past 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, the British, 28, allegedly entered the residence in Chuo Ward and encountered a male resident, who quickly alerted police.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of trespassing, the suspect denied the allegations. “Why was I arrested?” the suspect was quoted by the Chuo Police Station.
According to police, the suspect had been out drinking. He was staying at a hotel in Sapporo.
At the time of the incident, the front door was open. The resident, who was in the living room, had forgotten to lock his door after going shopping.
