Hokkaido police suspect man murdered wife at Sapporo home before suicide in forest

HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police suspect that a man murdered his wife at their residence in Sapporo City before taking his life, reports STV News (April 29).

At around 6:50 p.m. on Friday, a relative of Namiko Sakai, 85, found her collapsed in her bed the residence in the Shinkotonicho area of Kita Ward.

Emergency personnel transported her to a hospital where she was confirmed dead.

According to police, a rope was found near the bed.

Police later discovered the body of the man, who is believed to be Sakai’s husband, in a nearby forest.

Police believe that the man played a role in the death of Sakai before committing suicide.
