TOKYO (TR) – Renho Murata, head of the Democratic Party of Japan, said her husband was “lower than a plant” and held the lowest rank in her family on a television program that aired on Friday.
Murata, 48, often simply called Renho, told a TV host visiting her residence on the TBS series “Masahiro Nakai’s Kinsuma Special” that she sleeps in a separate bedroom from her husband of 24 years, Nobuyuki Murata, Sports Hochi reports (Nov. 18).
In the episode that took viewers inside Renho’s residence in Meguro Ward, Tokyo for the first time, Murata also revealed she never felt like sleeping with her husband and likewise never wanted to playfully catch his attention.
“He’s lower than a plant,” Murata said. “I duck and dodge whenever I pass by him [at home].”
“I don’t remember our wedding anniversary and what he said to me when he proposed,” she added. When Nobuyuki proposed to her, she replied, “If you find me acceptable.”
“Life would be troublesome if I had to remember that kind of stuff,” she said.
