Woman who went missing after murder of man murder in Tokorozawa apprehended in Fukui

SAITAMA (TR) – A woman who went missing after a man found collapsed near her apartment in Tokorozawa City last week and later died has been apprehended in Fukui Prefecture.

Saitama Prefectural Police believe the woman, who was apprehended in Fukui on Saturday morning, has information on the murder of Yuto Matsumoto, a 25-year-old office worker from Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, reports TBS News (Dec. 29).

At around 9:30 p.m. on December 26. Matsumoto was found bleeding heavily and unconscious near the entrance to the first floor of an apartment building in Higashisumiyoshi Ward. He was later confirmed dead.

According to the police, Matsumoto’s lower body had wounds consistent with a stabbing by a knife.

Based on security camera footage, Matsumoto is known to have visited unit 307 on the third floor of the building just minutes before he was found collapsed.

The woman had a contract to rent that unit for three months, spanning from the November 1 to January 31of next year. Since the incident, her whereabouts have been unknown.

Cash left behind

It has also been discovered that 200,000 yen in cash, a smartphone, five credit cards and four cash cards were left behind in Matsumoto’s car, which was found in a parking lot near the scene.

Police are currently investigating why Matsumoto visited the unit and the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Police plan to transfer the woman to a police station in Saitama Prefecture and investigate the circumstances surrounding Matsumoto’s murder.
