AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a 51-year-old beauty salon owner in Nagoya for allegedly performing cosmetic nose procedures on customers without a medical license, reports TV Asahi (Oct. 16).
Maria Teresa Aguilar Espinosa, a Philippine national, is accused of violating the Medical Practitioners’ Act. According to police, Espinosa inserted medical-grade threads into the noses of two female customers to elevate the bridge, a popular cosmetic procedure often known as a “thread lift.”
The unauthorized procedures took place at her salon located in the bustling Sakae district of Naka Ward in February and April of this year.
Upon questioning, Espinosa admitted to the allegations. Police said she charged the two women 90,000 yen and 110,000 yen, respectively, for the illegal cosmetic work.
Investigators believe the suspect has been running the illicit operation for some time. Between the year before last and May of this year, Espinosa allegedly performed similar procedures on approximately 20 clients, raking in an estimated 2.5 million yen in sales.
