Ex-AV actress Mao Hamasaki hospitalized after drink spiked in Hong Kong club

HONG KONG (TR) – Police are investigating an incident in which former Japanese adult video (AV) performer Mao Hamasaki was rushed to a hospital after allegedly consuming a drink laced with multiple illicit substances during an appearance in Hong Kong, local media reported on Sunday.

According to a report by news outlet HK01 citing her manager, Hamasaki — who currently works as a club DJ — suffered violent convulsions and collapsed during an event in the bustling Tsim Sha Tsui entertainment district in the early hours of November 1.

Following the completion of an initial DJ gig, Hamasaki moved to a different venue in the district at the request of a customer. While continuing her performance, she consumed a drink handed to her by a patron.

Shortly after taking the beverage, Hamasaki began convulsing and was rendered completely immobilized. She was rushed to an area hospital for emergency treatment.

Subsequent medical screenings confirmed the presence of four different types of drugs in her system. Police are currently investigating the matter on suspicion that she was deliberately drugged.

Hamasaki, who gained a wide following as an adult entertainment star before transitioning to DJing, had relocated her base of operations to Hong Kong, where her management agency is located.
