HONG KONG (TR) – Police here have launched an investigation after former Japanese adult video (AV) actress turned DJ Mao Hamasaki had her drink spiked with narcotics.
According to Hong Kong media outlet HK01, the incident unfolded early on November 1 in the bustling nightlife district of Tsim Sha Tsui. Hamasaki, who is currently based in Hong Kong, had just completed a Halloween DJ set and relocated to another venue at the request of a patron.
After consuming drinks handed to her at the venue, Hamasaki suffered severe convulsions, lost consciousness, and was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
A representative from Hamasaki’s management agency stated that toxicology tests conducted at the hospital came back positive for four separate drug substances. Medical personnel warned that the dosage had put her in critical danger.

“My own carelessness”
Taking to social media platform X on Monday, Hamasaki confirmed the ordeal and shared a photograph of herself receiving intravenous fluids in a hospital bed.
“It was completely my own carelessness that got me into this,” Hamasaki wrote, recounting the horrifying moments leading up to her collapse.
According to Hamasaki, she consumed around two shots of what appeared to be an orange juice-flavored cocktail before her second set.
“At the time, there was definitely something cloudy and accumulated at the bottom of the shot glass, but I let my guard down, assuming it was just orange pulp,” she said.
“Body became completely paralyzed”
Around an hour later, during her performance, Hamasaki began experiencing extreme dryness in her eyes and fuzzy memory. Shortly after taking another toast with a patron using the same drink, the narcotics took full effect.
“Immediately after finishing the drink, my body began to stiffen,” Hamasaki wrote. “My legs, my arms, my entire body became completely paralyzed, and I have no memory after that. When I came to, I was inside an ambulance. I was told I had suffered seizures.”
Hamasaki stated that she is steadily recovering and will be formally interviewed by Hong Kong police regarding the suspected drugging once discharged.
“Never let your guard down,” Hamasaki warned partygoers and fans traveling abroad. “If you ever leave your drink unattended, replace it. Always keep your drink in your own hands.”
