OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested two men and one youth over the alleged assault of a man who was found unconscious in a park in Toyonaka City on Sunday night.
On Monday, police accused the two men, both 19, and male youth, 16, of attempted murder.
The trio is believed to be a part of delinquent group that loiters in the Dotonbori area of Osaka City. Police are searching for the others who fled the scene after the attack, reports the Mainichi Shimbun (Aug. 20).
At around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, a male caller to police said that “several men and woman are assaulting a man” in the park, located in the Shonaisaiwaimachi area.
When the police arrived, they found Ryuya Onaka, 22, lying face-up with his lower body naked, his face swollen and blood coming from his mouth.
As of Tuesday, Onaka remains in critical condition. He is suffering from an acute subdural hematoma, police said.

Witnesses told police that several men and women punched the man in the face in the park.
“It looked like some young people were messing around,” one witness told the network. “About 4-5 of them.”
“It was awful,” another witness said. “I watched him being carried away and he wasn’t wearing any pants and was on oxygen. I asked an officer, ‘Is he OK?’ [The officer] responded, ‘I don’t know.'”
Police used Onaka’s identification card, which was found in the park, to identify him. He lives in Kyoto City.
The three suspects and Onaka are believed to be members of a delinquent group referred to as Gurishita, which combines the name of candy brand Glico and the word shita (down). The moniker is a reference to the popular meeting place below a Glico advertisement in Dotonbori.
