HIROSHIMA (TR) – Hiroshima Prefectural Police this week launched a murder case after the discovery of the corpse of an 84-year-old woman at her house in Shobara City, reports NHK (June 26).
On Tuesday evening, Sadayo Yabuki was found collaged face-down at the entrance of her house in Awata, Tojocho. She was later confirmed dead at the scene.
According to police, there were signs of multiple blows to her head from a blunt object, which resulted in a skull fracture.
The results of an autopsy revealed that cause of death to have been loss of blood from a wound to her head, police said.
Yabuki live alone. According to investigators, there were no signs of ransacking in the house. The investigation is ongoing.
Schools closed
In response to this incident, all 20 public elementary and middle schools in the city were closed on Thursday. However, classes are scheduled to continue as usual on Friday, with parents being asked to take their children to and from school.
A staff member at the day care facility used by Yabuki about three times a month said, “She was a gentle person.
Shee would sit nearby and smile as he watched the facility’s users having fun. It’s sad and unbelievable that something like this would happen to someone I knew.”
