TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police last week arrested an employee at a Filipino club in Sumida Ward on charges of arranging fake marriages, reports Nippon News Network (May 19).
On Saturday, officers took Shinichi Hosoya, a 45-year-old employee at club Celine Trois, which employs Filipino women as hostesses, into custody for allegedly filing fraudulent marriage forms with a government office in Yokohama City in 2010.
The papers were filed on behalf of three Filipino females employed at the club and three Japanese men, all of whom were also arrested.
Hosoya has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “In order to evade being busted by the police [for immigration violations] I registered the marriages,” the suspect is quoted.
