TOKYO (TR) – Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of dozens of dead crows in a park in the northern part of the capital, reports Fuji News Network (Mar. 25).

At around 3 p.m. on Friday, a woman called Tokyo Metropolitan Police after noticing the dead crows at Toritsu Johoku Central Park, which straddles Nerima and Itabashi wards.

Police believe an unknown person could have fed the crows bread laced with poison, Jiji Press reported (Mar. 24). About 50 crows are believed to have died.

Police are working with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to investigate the cause of death, and are treating the case as a possible violation of the Wildlife Protection and Hunting Law.
