Brazilian trio susepcted of stealing 50 luxury vehicles in Kanto

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police and other law enforcement divisions have arrested three male Brazilian nationals who are suspected of stealing over 50 luxury vehicles from primarily the Kanto region over the past year, reports TBS News (Feb. 19).

Last December, Emerson Ruiz Perdomo, 46, and two male accomplices, all from Brazil, are suspected of stealing a Land Cruiser from a parking lot in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture.

Upon their arrests on suspicion of theft, Perdomo and his accomplices denied the charges during questioning.

Perdomo and his accomplices are is believed to have used a so-called “CAN Invader” (Controller Area Network) device in a number of similar crimes. The palm-size device allows thieves to bypass the latest anti-theft technology.

Over 50 luxury Lexus and Land Cruiser vehicles have been stolen using this same method in Tokyo and Saitama, Ibaraki and other prefectures since February of last year.

According to Tokyo Metropolitan Police, all of these crimes are believed to have been committed by Perdomo and his accomplices.
