KUMAMOTO (TR) – The government of Kumamoto City has imposed a six-month suspension upon a 20-year-old female employee for taking on a part-time job at adult entertainment establishments without permission.
The female employee, 20, resigned on October 4. She worked at the Kumamoto City Finance Bureau, reports NHK (Oct. 4).
At a press conference held at Kumamoto City on the same day, the director of administrative management, Hojo Kurobe, said, “We sincerely apologize for damaging the trust and confidence of our citizens in our city. I’m sorry.”
According to Kumamoto City, the female employee used her free time to work a side job at a soapland establishment in Kumamoto and hostess clubs outside the prefecture without permission from January to August of this year.
The female employee said, “I had about 1 million yen in debt and I was doing it to repay it.”
She had worked the side job about 70 times, earning about 1.4 million yen. It was discovered in August after an anonymous tip was submitted.
When Kumamoto City checked, she admitted that she had about 1 million yen in debt from shopping for clothes and other items.
Since January, when she started her side job, she has been repeatedly warned about being late and falling asleep at work.
For civic employees of Kumamoto City, some side jobs are permitted but those at adult entertainment establishments are not allowed.
The heavy punishment of a six-month suspension was given since her side jobs were interfering with her work for the city.
