Shooting victim confirmed as boss in Yamaguchi-gumi

HYOGO (TR) – The owner of the ramen shop who was apparently shot and killed on Saturday has been confirmed as a boss with the Yamaguchi-gumi criminal syndicate, police have revealed, reports Fuji News Network (April 23).

According to police, the owner of the shop is Manabu Yojima, the 57-year-old boss of the Kodo-kai, the top affiliate gang of the Yamaguchi-gumi.

On Saturday morning, a female staff member of the shop, located in Nagata Ward, found Yojima collapsed and bleeding from what what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. He was later confirmed dead.

At the time, there were no customers inside the premises.

Police believe the case, which is being treated as murder, is connected to a dispute within the criminal underworld.
