Ryoki Miyama dropped from event following double adultery scandal with married co-star Maria Kano

TOKYO (TR) – Actor Ryoki Miyama, 27, has been axed from an upcoming corporate-sponsored event after a weekly tabloid exposed a brazen double infidelity scandal between him and his 33-year-old stage co-star.

Miyama and actress Maria Kano, who are both married to other people and have young children, were caught by Shukan Bunshun engaging in “inappropriate behavior” during the production of the stage musical adaptation of “Crash Landing on You.”

According to the bombshell report, the pair frequently engaged in illicit rendezvous during rehearsal periods, immediately following performances, and on their days off.

With their backs against the wall, management agencies for both actors quickly admitted that the two had spent time together and issued public apologies.

“Various circumstances”

The scandal has already dealt a blow to Miyama’s career. His agency announced he is withdrawing from a major dance event scheduled for August 11, sponsored by Dai-ichi Life Insurance. Citing “various circumstances,” the sudden cancellation is widely viewed as a swift corporate axing by the major insurance giant to protect its brand. Adding insult to injury for fans, the organizers announced they will not be issuing ticket refunds despite Miyama’s absence.

Despite the intense public backlash, both actors brazenly took the stage the day after the news broke. Following the evening performance, Miyama and Kano even appeared side-by-side for a scheduled post-show talk event.

Showbiz royalty

The betrayal has caused massive waves in the Japanese entertainment industry due to Miyama’s high-profile marriage. He is the husband of 35-year-old top actress Shuri, the daughter of Japanese showbiz royalty Yutaka Mizutani and Ran Ito.

On the very day the adultery report was published, Shuri was forced to smile through early morning television broadcasts to promote her new drama, prompting an outpouring of sympathy and support for her on social media.

Past trouble

This is not Miyama’s first time making unsavory headlines regarding his private life. He previously sparked outrage over his past relationship with a 29-year-old YouTuber and fashion designer, during which his behavior drew comparisons to an itadaki danshi (a male scammer or sugar baby who financially exploits women).

Industry insiders and the public are now closely watching to see how Shuri will handle her husband’s latest transgression.
