AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested four men for allegedly breaking into a Nagoya apartment and making off with Pokémon cards and other items valued at a staggering 12 million yen, reports Jiji Press (June 23).
The suspects, who include 29-year-old Shoki Sakano, of no known address or occupation, are accused of targeting the residence of a man in his 20s in Midori Ward at around 10:30 a.m. on January 13.
Police have not yet disclosed whether Sakano and his accomplices have admitted to the burglary charges.

According to police, the crew smashed a window to gain entry while the victim was away from home. Once inside, they allegedly swiped approximately 160,000 yen in cash and 786 items.
The stolen loot primarily consisted of highly sought-after Pokémon and “One Piece” trading cards. Investigators noted that some of the individual Pokémon cards stolen are valued at several hundreds of thousands of yen each on the collector’s market.
