CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 58-year-old woman over the alleged murder of her disabled daughter at their residence in Mobara City, reports TBS News (Mar. 9).
According to police, Chieko Saito had planned to take her own life after killing 29-year-old Kana.
On March 8, Saito, allegedly submerged Kana’s face in a storage container filled with water, drowning her.
Saito then told a male neighbor that she had killed her daughter. Police then rushed to the scene and confirmed Kana’s death.
During questioning, Saito admitted to the charges. “I didn’t intend to kill only my daughter; I intended to kill myself as well,” she said.

Saito and Kana lived together. According to police and Mobara City officials, Kana had a severe congenital physical disability and was bedridden. Saito had been caring for Kana at home and also sending her to a care facility.
Saito also stated she killed Kana and attempted to take her own life out of despair over her daughter’s future.
Police are now investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
