TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 35-year-old male Chinese national over the alleged stabbing of a female manager of a beauty salon in Shinjuku Ward on Monday, reports TBS News (Dec. 30).
At around noon on Monday, Zhu Yu allegedly stabbed the woman, aged in her 30s, four times in the right chest and right abdomen with what appeared to be a knife in the hallway of an apartment building in Takadanobaba.
The woman was taken to hospital, but her injuries are not life-threatening, police said previously.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of attempted murder, Zhu, who lives in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, chose to remain silent.

Based on security camera footage and other sources, investigators learned that Zhu fled the scene after the incident in a taxi.
At JR Shinjuku Station, he boarded the JR Sobu Line and later arrived at JR Makuhari Hongo Station, the nearest station to his home.
Tokyo police arrested that night at a fast food restaurant in Mihama Ward, Chiba City.
Zhu had reportedly visited the beauty salon as a customer multiple times since August. However, there are also reports of trouble with him not paying for treatments.
Tokyo police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
