TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are searching for a man over the alleged stabbing of a woman in Shinjuku Ward on Monday, reports Nippon News Network (Dec. 29).
According to investigators, a distress call was placed around noon about a woman who had been stabbed at an apartment building in Takadanobaba.
The woman, believed to be in her 30s and working at a beauty salon, was stabbed on the street by a man with what appeared to be a knife.
The woman was taken to hospital, but was conscious at the time, police said. The woman said that she knew the man.
The man subsequently fled the scene. Tokyo police are seeking his whereabouts on suspicion of attempted murder.
