OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested a 50-year-old administrative scrivener for allegedly beating an employee to death in his garage last year.
Tsuyoshi Asada, who lives in Osaka Prefecture, denies the allegations, claiming the victim repeatedly smashed his own head into the ground while apologizing, reports Nippon News Network (Aug. 27).
Asada is accused of striking the head of Tomonori Inoue multiple times in the garage of his residence in Ibaraki City in March of last year. Inoue later died from an acute subdural hematoma, police said.
At the time of the incident, Inoue was working for a company managed by Asada. According to investigators, the two men had been discussing the payment of business expenses on the day of the fatal altercation.
During voluntary questioning prior to his arrest, Asada told investigators, “Inoue got down in a dogeza (prostrating on the ground) and smashed his own head against the floor.”
Following his formal arrest, the suspect continued to deny the allegations, stating, “I did not assault him at all.”
However, police moved forward with the arrest after the results of a judicial autopsy and further investigations strongly indicated that Asada had inflicted the fatal blows.
A local resident who witnessed the aftermath recalled hearing a commotion from the property.
“I heard loud voices and wondered what was going on,” the witness said. “Inside the garage, I saw a person slumped heavily against the wall, hanging their head down.”
