
OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police are investigating a robbery in which tear gas was used to debilitate a woman in Chuo Ward, reports the Sankei Shimbun (July 27).
At 2:50 a.m. on Wednesday, the woman, a 39-year-old restaurant employee, exited a taxi in front of her residence in the Shimamachi. Shortly thereafter, an unknown male assailant sprayed tear gas in her face.
After the woman collapsed to the ground, the man stole her bag containing 50,000 yen.
According to officers from the Higashi Police Station, the assailant is believed to be in his 20s. He is wanted on suspicion of robbery.
