On June 13, Masato Okuno, 39, is alleged to have lured the girl into a toilet inside a large electronics store by falsely claiming to need assistance due to pain in his arm and lower back. He then confined and sexually assaulted the girl.
Okuno denies the allegations. “We were in the toilet together, but I did not commit an obscene act,” the suspect is quoted by police.
The suspect met the girl inside a rental video store. After the incident, he fled the scene on a motorbike.
Police targeted Okuno after security camera footage revealed images showing his motorbike.
Investigators are now attempting to determine whether the suspect was involved in similar incidents that have taken place in the same area.
Okuno works as a nurse at a senior citizens’ home in Sakai.
