OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police on Wednesday announced the bust of a nationwide mail order business that sold illegal pornographic DVDs from its base of operations in Naniwa Ward, reports the Mainichi Shimbun (Feb. 10).

On December 9, police raided the operation, located on the second and third floors of a multi-tenant building in the Nipponbashi area, and arrested Hiroshi Suzuki, the 39-year-old manager of the operation, for the possession of 50 DVDs in which genitalia was not censored.

Police also seized approximately 52,000 discs and 150 dubbing machines from the premises.

Suzuki managed two sites on the Internet, including Secret Lab. The operation sold discs for between 150 yen and 250 yen each. Over a one-year period ending in December of last year, revenue totaled 130 million yen for the sale of approximately 800,000 discs.

Suzuki, who has been charged with possessing obscene digital material for the purpose of sale, admits to the charges, telling police that he did it for the money. Five other members of the operation also faces charges in the case.
