Nara man indicted for murder after employer’s corpse found in charred vehicle

OSAKA (TR) – A 37-year-old male office worker has been indicted in connection with the charred body of his male supervisor that was found in a burning car in Kashiwara City last month, reports Mainichi Broadcasting System (Dec. 25).

On Wednesday, the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office indicted Tatsuya Hamada on charges of murder, theft, arson in an uninhabited structure and abandonment and mutilation of a corpse.

According to the indictment, Hamada fatally stabbed Toshihiro Sadai, then a 60-year-old company executive from Yamatotakada City, Nara Prefecture, in the neck with a knife in the warehouse of the victim’s home in early November.

He then stole Sadai’s car, loaded the victim’s body into it and transported it along the Nishi-Meihan Expressway to Kashiwara City.

Between 4:35 a.m. and 4:40 a.m. on November 3, Hamada caused a traffic accident and set fire to the parked car along a guardrail of the expressway.

The incident came to light when the car was found on fire near the 6.7-kilometer mark on the Nishi-Meihan Expressway. The charred body was later found in the back seat.

Sadai was the representative director of a company that ran an osteopathic clinic. Hamada, who also lives in Yamatotakada, was an employee of the company and worked as the director of the clinic.

During the investigation, Hamada admitted to the charges. He said, “There is no doubt that I forced the car into the guardrail on the expressway and set it on fire.”

He went on, “With everything building up, I felt I had no choice but to kill him.”
