AICHI (TR) – A man was arrested for trespassing in a Nagoya university building for the sole suspected purpose of hitting on women, police said.

An unemployed 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing in a building of a campus of Nagoya University on Tuesday to try and proposition women, the Asahi Shimbun reported on Wednesday (May 25).

The suspect, a resident of Tokyo’s Chuo Ward, has admitted to the charges, telling officers from the Chikusa Police Station that he was “definitely aiming to hit on women.”

Police said the suspect entered the first floor of a building on the Higashiyama Campus of Nagoya University at around 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday and was cat-calling numerous women.

A group of male university students thought the suspect was suspicious and approached him, prompting the suspect to flee until he was overpowered and pinned down by students on a nearby street.

An official involved with the investigation said the suspect is believed to have been traveling around various universities nationwide with an aim to hit on women.

On what is thought to be the suspect’s Twitter, a tweet describes plans to travel around universities in Japan to proposition women.
