KYOTO (TR) – Kyoto Prefectural Police on Monday announced the prosecution of a 27-year-old male in Kameoka City in more than 50 cases of sexual assault beginning two years ago, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (March 3).
According to police, Kenji Nakajima is believed to have touched the body or otherwise sexually violated approximately 55 females, including 20 elementary school girls, in Kyoto, Kameoka and Muko City over a 14-month period starting in September of 2013.
The victims were aged between three and 18. Prosecutors have thus far received cases involving 13 incidents.
Nakajima, who has admitted to the allegations, told police that he committed the crimes due to built-up stress. “I wanted to see the face of a girl who is upset,” the suspect is quoted by police.
According to police, Nakajima often called out to children playing alone near his residence and place of employment while he rode his bicycle.
Nakajima was first arrested last October for fondling the body of an elementary school girl in Ukyo Ward. He has been arrested a total of four times, according to the Sankei Shimbun (March 2).
