Yoshiwara soapland operator arrested after netting ¥5.5 billion from prostitution

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested the manager of a soapland adult entertainment parlor in the Yoshiwara red-light district and four employees for allegedly providing a venue for prostitution, reports Nippon News Network (June 24).

Yoshihiro Miyashita, who operates the soapland Louvre in Taito Ward, and four staffers were taken into custody on Monday.

On that day, two female employees in their 30s allegedly used two private rooms provided by the soapland for prostitution with male customers in their 40s and 50s, respectively.

During police questioning, all five suspects admitted to the charges.

The raid and subsequent arrests were triggered by an informant’s tip-off to police indicating that illegal sex acts were being sold on the premises.

The illicit operation proved to be incredibly lucrative. According to investigators, the parlor, which averages 22 customers per day, has raked in an astounding 5.55 billion yen in sales since Miyashita took over management in 2018.

Police are continuing to probe the establishment’s financial records and operations.
