TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 37-year-old yakuza member for allegedly threatening a teenage girl with an ice pick and robbing her in Shinjuku Ward earlier this year, reports Fuji News Network (July 13).
Ryuji Ogoshi, a member of a gang affiliated with the Inagawa-kai crime syndicate, is accused of thrusting an ice pick-like weapon against the stomach of the teenage victim in April. He allegedly threatened the girl, causing her injury, before fleeing with her smartphone and cash.
Ogoshi was a frequent presence in Kabukicho’s notorious “Toyoko” area — a popular gathering spot for runaway and troubled youths — where he was known simply as “Crazy.”

As he was being loaded into a police transport vehicle to be sent to prosecutors, Ogoshi lived up to his moniker, shouting, “I am the ‘Crazy’ of the Crazy Group!”
During police questioning, Ogoshi reserved his right to remain silent, telling investigators, “I will speak after I consult with my lawyer.”
The investigation is far from over. Police are currently looking into additional crimes, as investigators suspect Ogoshi may have forced multiple other young girls in the area to use stimulant drugs.
