CHIBA (TR) – Early on Monday, Kanta Sonoda climbed from the balcony of his fourth-floor apartment in a building in Urayasu City and over to a neighboring unit.
After receiving a report about “a suspicious person,” officers from the Urayasu Police Station arrived at the scene and detained the would-be Spider-man on suspicion of attempted trespassing.
“I wanted to experience the sense of accomplishment of moving to the next room and the thrill of almost falling,” said Sonoda, 23, upon his apprehension.
Sonoda works as a clerk in the Urayasu City Comprehensive Support for the Elderly Division.
Following the arrest of Sonoda, Urayasu City commented, “We deeply regret that this incident has caused a significant loss of trust among our citizens, and we offer our deepest apologies. We will promptly verify the facts and take strict action.”
