Osaka cops hunt for man after wife found dead

OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police earlier this week launched a search for a man in his 80s after the corpse of his wife was found at their residence in Daito City, reports NHK (July 4).

At around 9:00 p.m. on July 3, the son of Kazuko Sato called a relative after returning home to the house and finding her collapsed on the third floor. The relative then alerted police.

Officers who rushed to the scene found Sato, 68, lying face-up on a futon. She was confirmed dead at the scene, police said.

According to the Shijonawate Police Station, there were marks around her neck that were consistent with strangulation.

Upon the arrival of authorities, the front door was locked. A rope was found inside.

The case is being investigated on suspicion of murder. Since the incident surfaced, Sato’s husband has not been reachable. Police are seeking his whereabouts to question him about the case.

The home is located in a residential area about 1.4 kilometers from JR Shijonawate Station.
