TOKYO (TR) – A man was arrested on Monday for stabbing his wife to death before trying to take his own life in an attempted murder-suicide at a hotel in the Ikebukuro area of Toshima Ward earlier this month.
Officers from the Ikebukuro Police Station arrested Terutake Yamaguchi, 33, who is unemployed, on murder charges for allegedly stabbing his wife Mika, 46, to death at a love hotel sometime between June 7 and June 8, the Sankei Shimbun reports (June 26).
Yamaguchi admitted to the charges, telling police he “wanted to ease his sick wife’s suffering.”
Police found a note from Yamaguchi in the hotel room, which said: “I eased Mika-chan’s suffering. I’m going to join her.”
Police believe Yamaguchi stabbed Mika’s left chest multiple times with a knife before stabbing himself in the chest sometime between 9:30 p.m. on June 7 and 6:10 p.m. on June 8.
Officers discovered Yamaguchi conscious and lying next to his wife, and brought him to the hospital to treat his serious self-inflicted injuries.
