Medical chief re-arrested over hidden camera in Shibuya toilet

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have re-arrested the 48-year-old chairman of a medical corporation for allegedly installing a hidden camera in a restroom in Shibuya Ward, reports TV Asahi (July 13).

Mitsuhiro Kubota, who heads the Mito City-based medical corporation Keiwakai, is accused of taking tosatsu footage of 15 men and women — including building employees and visitors — using a miniature camera placed inside a unisex toilet of a multi-tenant building in November two years ago.

According to police, Kubota shifted a ceiling cover to conceal the device behind a ventilation fan. The camera was equipped with a 2-millimeter lens and could be operated remotely.

Upon his arrest, Kubota admitted to the allegations, reportedly telling investigators he committed the acts “to satisfy my sexual desires.”

The latest charges emerged during an analysis of data from devices previously seized by authorities. Kubota was already in custody after being arrested for allegedly secretly filming inside the women’s restroom at his own medical facility. Investigators believe there are over 100 victims tied to that location alone.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine if Kubota has repeated similar voyeurism offenses at other locations.
