SAIAMA (TR) – A 35-year-old male prosecutor with the Saitama District Public Prosecutors Office has been punished for leaking information about another person’s criminal record to a woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair, reports Nippon News Network (Dec. 26).
On Friday, Takeko Anan of the Saitama District Public Prosecutors Office was summarily indicted for violating the National Public Service Act. He also received a summary order to pay a fine of 300,000 yen and was dismissed from his position for disciplinary reasons by the Ministry of Justice dismissed.
Around June 20 last year, Anan allegedly leaked information to his girlfriend by handing her a piece of paper containing information about a criminal record, according to the office and others sources.

At the time, Anan was working at the Numazu Branch of the Shizuoka District Public Prosecutors Office. In obtaining the information, he used a device accessible by prosecutors. The information included the date and content of a criminal trial verdict for a man with whom the woman had had trouble.
Although Anan has a wife and children, he pretended to be single while dating the woman. During questioning, he admitted to the charges. He said, “I wanted to be seen as someone she could rely on.”
