KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police arrested a man over his suspected involvement in the theft of a taxi and assault of the driver in Sagamihara City early Saturday, reports TBS News (Nov. 29).
At around 5:40 a.m., the driver called police from a street near JR Sagamihara Station in Chuo Ward to report that a passenger he had picked up had attacked him with a hammer and stolen his taxi.
The driver, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Police later arrested a man in his 50s in the city. They are currently questioning him in detail about the incident.
