HIROSHIMA (TR) – A 29-year-old man arrested for the robbery-murder of his friend in Mihara City had accumulated massive gambling losses totaling 80 million yen, police have revealed, reports TBS News (July l1).
Kanta Kuramoto, a resident of Hiroshima City’s Minami Ward, was sent to prosecutors on suspicion of robbery-murder on Wednesday morning.
According to police, Kuramoto is accused of murdering his friend, 29-year-old Masaki Tokuda, on company premises in Mihara City in March. The motive was allegedly a desperate bid to escape repaying a 7-million-yen loan he had taken from the victim.

Investigators discovered that Kuramoto had been hemorrhaging money through gambling since May of last year, racking up a staggering deficit of approximately 80 million yen.
Drowning in multiple financial obligations, Kuramoto reportedly borrowed the 7 million yen from Tokuda to funnel the cash into his mounting debts.
Police believe severe financial desperation was the primary catalyst for the fatal incident and are continuing their investigation to uncover the full details of the crime.
