TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested three of the four suspects over an attempted robbery a precious metals shop in Shinjuku Ward last month, reports TBS News (Mar. 19).
On February 26, Mitsuru Suzuki, 40, and three other intruders posed as waterworks inspectors when they broke into the precious metals shop in Yotsuya.
According to police, they attempted to steal valuables while wielding crowbars. However, a 43-year-old male employee resisted the attack, forcing the four men to flee without taking anything.
Two of the other suspects are an 18-year-old part-time worker from Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture and a 17-year-old high school student from Saitama Prefecture.
Police have not disclosed whether the three suspects have admitted to the charges.

According to police, the arrests of three suspects were made through an examination of security camera footage. The fourth suspect remains at large.
Before the incident, the four suspects gathered near the crime scene. Police believe a fifth person gave the order to carry out the crime.
