TOKYO (TR) – Former TBS announcer Rina Yamamoto is shedding her conservative broadcaster image to take on her first swimsuit gravure in a new photo book, set to hit shelves on October 28, reports Oricon News (Aug. 27).
Published by Kodansha, the 32-year-old freelance announcer’s debut photo book was shot against the stunning backdrop of Miyakojima’s pristine beaches and lush nature.
The release promises to show off a mature, natural side of the ex-broadcaster never before seen on television or social media, featuring shots in a variety of intimate settings including beaches, pools, beds, and bathrooms.
“First swimsuit shoot”
Yamamoto, who previously hosted popular programs such as “Sunday Japon” before leaving TBS to work freelance across television, radio, and events, admitted to feeling apprehensive about baring skin for the camera.
“Because it was my first swimsuit shoot, I was very anxious and nervous,” Yamamoto said. However, she revealed that looking out at the Miyakojima ocean quickly put her at ease. “The fun started to outweigh the nerves,” she added.
She recalled the photographer praising her as she relaxed into the shoot. “He told me, ‘I know you were nervous, but your expression is gradually softening and looking great.’ That made me really happy,” she said.
In a spontaneous moment on the final night of the trip, Yamamoto ended up in the water fully clothed during a staff barbecue after the photographer suggested a night shoot. Illuminated by the pool lights, the impromptu shot became her absolute favorite photograph in the book.
Personal routines
Beyond the gravure shots, the photo book dives into the self-proclaimed beauty junkie’s personal routines, detailing her makeup tips, favorite cosmetics, and skincare regimen with her own commentary.
“I packed everything about my current self into this!” Yamamoto said, noting that she underwent a strict fitness routine ahead of the shoot. “I worked really hard on body-making for the swimsuit shots, so I want people to focus on that.”
Appealing to her fans, she added, “I wanted to pack in a side of myself that I don’t show in my regular work or on SNS. I would be thrilled if people enjoy the natural me, spiced up with special makeup, outfits, and shots taken in my favorite places.”
