Construction co. president among suspects in beating, confining of man for 3 months

TOKYO (TR) – Following the arrest of the president of a construction company and others for holding a man captive for about three months, it has been revealed that the suspects forced the victim to take what appears to be illegal drugs, police said, reports Nippon News Network (July 19).

On Friday morning, construction company president Yuto Oshiro, 24, was indicted along with six others for working together to kidnap the man, aged in his 30s, into a car and hold him captive between January and April of this year.

They are also alleged to have assaulted him by pouring boiling water over his body and hitting him with a hammer, causing serious injuries.

In the latest development, subsequent interviews with investigators revealed that a video found on Oshiro’s smartphone shows the man being forced to take what appears to be illegal drugs.

When questioned, Oshiro reserved his plea. “I’ll speak after my lawyer arrives,” he said, while the other six are denying the allegations or remaining silent.

The victim worked at another construction company that had outsourced interior construction work to Oshiro, but had stopped paying him because there were defects in the work.

The confinement took place in a hotel and a storage room. Immediately after being rescued, the man said, “It’s my fault.” Police are investigating the possibility that Oshiro and his associates were controlling the man mentally through assault and illegal drugs.
