Charred corpse found in burned-out car in Saitama

SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police found a charred corpse inside a vehicle after it caught fire on a road in Saitama City’s Sakura Ward on Saturday.

An injured man was also found near the vehicle. Police plan to question him once he recovers from his injuries, reports Yomiuri Shimbun (Dec. 22).

At around 11:25 p.m., a male passerby called police to report a “car on fire” on a road in the Dojo area.

When police and emergency personnel rushed to the scene, they found a light passenger vehicle on fire. After the fire was put out about 30 minutes later, a body of an unknown gender was found inside the vehicle.

A 75-year-old man who lives in Sakura was also found collapsed and bleeding from his abdomen near the vehicle. He was conscious upon transport to a hospital.

Police plan to question the man about the incident upon his recovery.
