HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police on Monday launched an investigation following the discovery of the nude body of a woman who had gone missing, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Sep. 21).
At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday, a male passerby walking his dog discovered the woman’s unclothed body lying face-up in a gutter in the Hanadacho Takagi area of Himeji City. She was later confirmed dead by police arriving at the scene.
Wounds were found along the right side of the body, which did not exhibit any signs of decomposition. Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to assess the cause of death.
Police later confirmed the identity of the body to be that of a 27-year-old woman. Earlier that day, a missing persons report had been filed with police by her family, according to Fuji News Network (Sep. 21).
A black t-shirt and underwear were found approximately 300 meters from the woman’s body. Police are now attempting to confirm whether the items belonged to the victim.
Police are considering the case to be either an accident or the result of foul play.
