KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police last week arrested a 57-year-old woman after she rammed a family restaurant in Yokosuka City during a dispute with an employee, reports the Kanagawa Shimbun (June 8).
At around 4:40 p.m. on June 7, the woman allegedly drove her light passenger vehicle into the side of the Denny’s Kita Kurihama outlet from the parking lot.
The impact damaged windows, a parking barricade and other items. As well, three men and women in their 50s to 70s suffered minor injuries, the local fire department said.
Police arrested the woman, who lives in Yokohama City, on suspicion of causing suspicion of damage to a building or structure. “I crashed my car with the intention of destroying the store,” she told police in admitting to the allegations.
Just before the incident, a restaurant employee called police to report that they were having trouble with the suspect. Immediately after officers arrived, she started her car and crashed into the restaurant.
Police are now seeking a motive for the crime.
