TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested two teenage girls for allegedly defrauding purchasers of concert tickets for boy bands with the Johnny & Associates talent agency, reports the Asahi Shimbun (June 21).
The girls, aged 17 and 18, are alleged to have used Twitter to falsely advertise the sale of tickets for shows featuring acts on the Johnny & Associates roster, including KAT-TUN, News and Generations.
In March, three women paid a total of 56,000 yen via bank transfer for tickets that did not exist. Since October of last year, the suspects swindled at least 87 people out of a total of two million yen, according to Fuji News Network (June 21).
The suspects, who have been charged with fraud, are runaways. They told the Shibuya Police Station that they used the money for clothes, food and lodging.
