Tokyo cops bust hooker service that used dating sites

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Friday announced the bust of a prostitution service that solicited male customers by posing as women on dating sites, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Sep. 25).

On August 4, Ryuta Takayama, 30, and Kazusa Manabe, 28, are alleged to have arranged for a prostitute in her 30s to meet with a man at a hotel in the Kabukicho red-light district of Shinjuku Ward.

Takayama admits to the allegations. “I wanted money for living expenses and to enjoy myself,” the suspect is quoted by police.

The suspects recruited three women to work for the service. To generate business, the suspects posted messages on deai-kei matchmaking sites in which they pretended to be female sex workers in search of a customers for prostitution.

Over a two-year period, the operation collected 200 million yen in revenue.
