TOKYO (TR) – A 33-year-old-woman and her former boyfriend, 16, have been arrested for trying to blackmail a teenage boy by claiming her father was an organized crime member, police said on Tuesday.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested Mayu Narita, 33, and her ex-boyfriend, a first-year high school student, for allegedly attempting to coerce money out of the victim, also a 16-year-old high school student, who organized a party in November 2016 in the Nishi Azabu area of Minato Ward, Nippon News Network reports (Mar. 14).

Narita and the other suspect have been charged with attempted blackmail. She and her accomplice told the victim that “yakuza who are fixers of the party venue are here to collect money for breach of contract,” police said.

Narita told police she couldn’t forgive the victim for bad-mouthing the teenager she was dating at the time. She also wanted money, TBS News (Mar. 14) quoted her as saying.

The pair barged into the party venue and caused a commotion before summoning the victim to a cafe, where Narita claimed her “father is a yakuza member.”

“What’s going to happen is, yakuza gangsters will march into school,” Narita said to the victim.
