TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are investigating the theft of around 200,000 yen from an outlet of a popular ramen chain in Tokyo’s Chiyoda Ward, reports TV Asahi (Oct. 11).
On Tuesday morning, the male manager of the Kanda Jimbocho branch of Ramen Jiro noticed that a ticket machine that diners feed with cash to place orders had been broken open and emptied of around 200,000 yen in cash.
The shop had been closed since around 9:00 p.m. on Friday, when it was locked at the business that day. According to police, some kind of tool was used to pry open the machine during the time the shop was not open.
Founded in 1968, Ramen Jiro has made a name for itself due to the large servings it provides customers.
