TOKYO (TR) – The support group representing House of Councillors member Kusuo Oshima spent political funds at a gay bar in Tokyo, it was revealed on Monday, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 27).
According to a political funds report for 2010, Oshima’s group on July 1 recorded 25,000 yen as an expenditure for the purchase of food and drinks and informal conversation inside the club Snack Kusuo, located in Shinjuku Ward’s 2-chome gay quarter.
The bar has received a degree of notoriety overseas, having played host to deceased Queen singer Freddie Mercury.
Oshima, 50, is a member of the Democratic Party of Japan and a native of Fukuoka Prefecture.
