SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have launched investigations after the discovery of three corpses in two neighboring cities along the Arakawa River over a three-day period.
At around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, a volunteer collecting trash found skeletal remains inside a tent along the river in the Uchiya area of Toda City.
According to the Warabi Police Station, a skull and other bones were among the human remains discovered. The tent was in a thicket along the river.
The body was clothed in a blue jacket and a black vest. As well, the condition of the skeleton showed no indication that a struggle had taken place.
At around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, another volunteer collecting garbage found a skull, leg bone and other bones about 20 meters away.
In addition to seeking the identities of the remains, police are now investigating whether the two cases are related.
At around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, the manager of a parking lot reported to police the discovery of a woman floating in the Arakawa River in the Funatocho area of Kawaguchi City.
Emergency personnel arriving at the river confirmed her dead at the scene.
According to the Kawaguchi Police Station, the woman was in possession of no personal articles. The woman stood about 160 centimeters tall. Her body was clothed in a black long-sleeve shirt and pants.
Police are now working to confirm the identity of the woman.
