OITA (TR) – Oita Prefectural Police have arrested a 32-year-old man after a stabbing incident left three people hurt at a daycare-kindergarten facility in Usa City on Friday, reports Nippon News Network (Mar. 31).
At around 3:20 p.m., Kenta Iba, who was wearing a helmet, entered the facility and allegedly hit a 9-year-old boy with a bamboo sword. The suspect also swung around a survival knife, leaving two female staff injured.
The victims were transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.
Iba was still holding the knife when he was arrested on suspicion of violating the Swords and Firearms Control Law on a street some 200 meters away from the facility about 15 minutes after responding officers arrived.
