IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police are investigating what is believed to be a murder-suicide case involving an elderly man and his son, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 25).

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, a fisherman found the body of a 73-year-old man floating in the Nakaminato Fishing Harbor in Hitachinaka City. He was confirmed dead after being transported to a nearby hospital.

Thereafter, police searched the man’s home, located in the Minamikoyacho area of Hitachi City, and found the blood-covered body of his son, Takashi Asada, 41, collapsed in the bathroom. The body had a stab wound in the abdomen. A bloodstained-knife was found at the scene.

Asada and his father lived in the residence together.  A note believed to have been written by the Asada’s father and left in the residence suggested that he had killed his son and then taken his own life by drowning.
